Maywood Buzz News Release
Maywood, CA - (April 25th, 2007) - When the All-ABA teams where annouced there was one player who was missing from the list. Maywood Buzz Guard/Forward Lamar Gayle who by far was one of the leagues top players. On a team that went 16-14 and would play just about anywhere Lamar Gayle was the teams Co-MVP and by far the best player on the West Coast.
Gayle who finished the season with 31.2ppg, 14.3rpg, 4.1apg, 2.4spg and also was an all-star last year and would have been this year had he not joined the team late. Lamar who out scored 50+ points twice this season, held to single digits rebounds just once this season and also had a 46pt/17reb game vs the Slam.
The All-ABA Team was selected with the hel;p of Mr Chris Terrell of the Texas Tycoons, who had 3 players on the all-ABA team. The way the teams where selected was not fair and many players from the west was left off.
The player from Beijing only played half the season. Gayle out played Billy Knight each time they suited up.
As a the team General Manager/Head Coach I think that all teams should have had a vote in the All-ABA Team selections. Players play hard and many earn the right to be on the team.
I think that each division should have voted on players in thier divisions, since Mr. Terrell never seen any of the West Coast teams play other then Beijing.
Lamar is playing right now in the IBL and is tearing it up. Fresh off a 46pt game and win vs Santa Barbara. He is continuing where he left off in the ABA. The Buzz family would like to wish Lamar good luck in the IBL and where ever his future shall lead him. He is a great player and friend.
