Mavericks Win Big Again

The SETX Mavericks won their 20th straight game of the season.

The Mavericks came out ready to play as they opened up the game with easy baskets by Odell Bradley, Alex Sanders, and Jon Rogers to build a 14-4 lead and cruised to a 28-15 lead at the end of one quarter of play.

In the 2nd quarter the Mavericks started to pull away as Desmond Cambridge and the rest of the Mavs bench got into the act. SETX went in up 63-32 at halftime.

The second half was all Mavericks as PJ Cousinard, Currye Todd, Mike Crain, and Myles Thrash had a field day from the floor. Brandon Davis controlled the paint as he collected another double/double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. The Mavericks scored 50 points in the final period of play and sealed another win at home!

Bradley led nine Mavericks in double figure scoring with 23 points. Thrash scored 18 points and dished out 6 assist. Cousinard and Alex Sanders chipped in 17 points each. DeSean White came off the Mavs bench to score 15 points. Todd and Cambridge followed up with 13 points apiece. Crain contributed 11 points and 7 assist. Tony Hooper scored a game high 29 points for Houston. Ed Johnson followed up with 17 points.

The Mavericks will be back in action on Saturday night as they will host the RGV Pro Broncs. The Broncs last weekend won the independent team State Championship. Game time will be at 7:30 PM at Lamar State College-Port Arthur.
