March 2, 2011 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release

The #1 Ranked SETX Mavericks (27-1) defeated the Arlington Bulldogs 153-97 at home at their Nutty Jerry's Entertainment Center (NJEC) on Tuesday to record their 33rd straight home victory. The Mavericks also won their 17th straight victory on the season.

The Mavericks started slow and fell behind early 7-0 to the Bulldogs from Arlington, TX. After a time-out Hollis Giles scored the Mavericks first basket and from there the Mavs started to climb out of the early hole they had dug for themselves. The first period remained close as Ralph Johnson scored from both inside and outside to hold Arlington in the game. Long range gunner Dwight Coleman hit two big 3 pointers to end the first period to give the Bulldogs the lead 23-22 after one period of play.

The 2nd quarter belonged totally to the Mavericks as Odell Bradley came off the Mavs bench to ignite the Mavericks offense and defense. Sidekick Desmond Cambridge assisted with the full-court pressure as the Mavericks pressure defense took over the game. The Mavs won the quarter 44-25 and went in the locker-room up at halftime 66-48.

The 2nd half was all Mavericks as the Mavs just started where they had left off in the second period of play. The Mavericks defense was stifling as they never allowed the Bulldogs to get into any kind of offensive flow. PJ Cousinard, Bradley, Giles, Alex Sanders, and Brandon Davis ignited another Mavericks run as they blew the game open. The Mavericks controlled the entire 2nd half and cruised to a 56 point victory 153-97.

Bradley led seven Mavericks double figure scorers with 21 points. Alex Sanders scored 19 points (17 in the first half) pulled down 11 rebounds, and dished out 5 assist. Davis recorded a double/double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Todd and Cambridge each scored 15 points. Cousinard added 14 points (all in the 2nd half). Johnson scored a game high with 28 points and had a game high 14 rebounds. Coleman added 25 points and Antonio Odom chipped 21 points respectively.

The Mavericks will host their Gulf Coast Division rival the Gulf Coast Flash (7-4) on Thursday night. Tip-off will be at 7:30 PM. The Flash is the only team to have defeated the Mavericks this season (a 111-109 last minute defeat in Gulfport, MS on December 19th).
