
Mavericks recall Rawle Marshall from D-League

DALLAS- Today the Dallas Mavericks announced they have recalled Rawle Marshall from the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Development League. Marshall was originally assigned to the Flyers on December 29 and appeared in 21 games, averaging 17.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.38 steals and 1.05 blocks in 30.2 minutes per game.
Enroute to helping Fort Worth secure the D-League's best record, Marshall ranked eighth in the league in scoring, eighth in free throw attempts (7.9 per game), 14th in steals and 11th in blocks. Marshall scored 20 or more points nine times, including four times over his last six games played.
Marshall (6-7, 190) has appeared in four games for the Mavericks this season, playing a total of 10 minutes. He made his NBA-debut vs. Detroit on November 19th and scored 3 points with 2 rebounds in six and a half minutes of play.
The undrafted rookie played for the Mavericks in the 2005 Rocky Mountain Revue after appearing in four games for the Memphis Grizzlies in the Southern California Summer Pro League. In five games with Dallas, he averaged 10.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in a team-high 27.4 minutes per game. Marshall also averaged 1.80 steals per game, which ranked him third among all players in the Rocky Mountain Revue.
After playing sparingly in his freshman season at Ball State, Marshall transferred to Oakland University where he averaged 18.6 points over his final three collegiate seasons. Marshall was an All-Mid-Continent First Team selection in 2003 and 2005 and a Second Team pick in 2004. As a senior, Marshall averaged team-highs of 19.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.25 blocks and 1.84 steals in 36.2 minutes per game.
Marshall was named MVP of the 2005 Mid-Con Tournament after averaging 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds to lead Oakland to its first Mid-Con title. He scored 26 points against Alabama A&M in the NCAA Tournament play-in game and tallied 16 points and 5 rebounds in a first-round loss to eventual National Champion North Carolina. Marshall also competed in the 17th Annual Mountain Dew College Slam Dunk Championship in March of 2005.
Although he was born in Guyana (located in northern South America), Marshall moved to New York when he was four and later attended high school in Detroit. He lettered in basketball, track and cross country and was also the salutatorian of his senior class. Marshall earned a degree in communications from Oakland University.
