Mavericks Dominate Red Storm

Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release


The #1 ranked SETX Mavericks (22-1) defeated the Houston Red Storm (0-9) Saturday night 157-67 at the League of America Arena in Houston, TX.

The was no slow start on Saturday night for the Mavericks as the Mavs jumped out to an 11-0 lead. Rookie sensation PJ Cousinard and Myles Thrash set to tone early with baskets to put SETX out in front and in control. The Mavericks led after one period of play 38-15.

The second quarter belonged to Cousinard as he scored 17 points with a wide arsenal of shots. Cousinard and the Mavs defense showed its full form as the Mavericks cruised to a 86-33 halftime lead.

In the second half the Mavericks played like a well oiled machine as they dominated every phase of the game. SETX dismantled Houston with a 157-67 win.

Cousinard led the way with 36 points and 12 rebounds. Odell Bradley regained his form with 20 points. DeSean White recorded another double/double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Currye Todd scored 17 points. Lamar Sanders and Hollis Giles followed up with 14 and 12 points respectively. Darrell Bogany led Houston with 25 points. Floyd Baats chipped in 14 points and Zoe Zoe followed up with 13 points.

The Mavericks will be back in action at home Tuesday night vs the North Texas Fresh. Tip-off will be at 7:30 PM.

MAVS NOTES:

* The Mavericks recorded 44 total team assist Saturday night vs Houston, while only having 10 turnovers for the game.

* The Mavericks are out scoring their opponents by 46.7 points per game on the season.

* The Mavs are holding opponents to 77.4 points per game for the season while allotting opponents to only a 31.4 shooting percentage.
