Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release
The #1 ranked SETX Mavericks (21-1) defeated the Houston Red Storm (0-8) 135-103 at their NJEC Arena on Thursday night.
The Mavericks came out slowly in the first quarter as the Red Storm led by Brandon Andrews, Mike Levy, and Sam Stelly built an early 12-2 lead. Alex Sanders and Desmond Cambridge came off the Mavericks bench to lead the Mavericks as Houston only led by a 29-27 score after one period of play.
SETX was dominant in the second quarter as DeSean White, Jon Rogers, and Lamar Sanders took over the inside for the Mavericks. Cambridge and Myles Thrash led the way with the Mavs full court pressure. The Mavs outscored the Red Storm 36-18 to gain control of the game and lead 63-47 at half-time.
