Mavericks Defeat Red Storm 128-84

The #1 Ranked SETX Mavericks (4-0) used all of its weapons on Saturday night at the League America Complex in Houston, TX to defeat the Houston Red Storm (0-2).

The Mavericks again used a dominating first quarter to get control of the game. Reigning ABA MVP Josh Pace was back in form by scoring 8 early points to lead the Mavs to a 34-19 first period lead.

Pace's sidekick Jermaine Blackburn got into the act in the second quarter of play. Blackburn along with Desmond Cambridge and Mike Crain continued the Mavs onslaught as the Mavericks went into halftime with 55-37 lead.

In the second half the entire Mavericks bench contributed as the Mavericks pushed their lead to 40 points. Currye Todd played a complete all-around game for the Mavericks as the Mavs pulled away to an impressive win on the road 128-84.

Pace led the Mavericks in scoring with 30 points. Former ABA MVP DeRon Rutledge scored 18 points while pulling down 5 rebounds. Blackburn added 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the floor. Todd chipped in 14 points. Steve Thomas followed up with 12 points and 6 rebounds in his first appearance in a Mavericks uniform. Cambridge led the Mavs in rebounding with 9 and also had 3 steals. Sam Stelly led the Red Storm with 17 points and former Mavericks player Brandon Andrews chipped in 16 points respectively.

The Mavericks will host the Texas Fuel at the Nutty Jerry's Entertainment Center this upcoming Thursday night, December 2nd. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM. The NJEC is located at 18291 Englin Road in Winnie, TX 77665 off Highway 73.
