Mavericks Blow out Rimrockers

January 26, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release

The Southeast Texas Mavericks reclaimed the #1 ranking in the ABA Power Rankings earlier in the day and on Monday night they showed why they have been the most dominate ABA Team over the past two seasons.

The Mavericks started out slowly and struggled to find their rhythm in the first quarter finding themselves only up by two after one period of play 22-20. But in the second quarter the Mavs used pressure defense and timely shooting to put up 42 points while holding the Rimrockers from New Mexico to a total of 15 points. The onslaught was led by Mavs point guard Herman Favors, center Jon Rogers, and slick shooting Currye Todd off the Mavericks bench. The Mavericks led at intermission 64-35.

In the 3rd quarter the Mavericks totally dominated the Rimrockers and scored 54 points in the period. The Mavs Bookend Wings Jermaine Blackburn and Josh Pace got into the act as the Mavericks opened the second half on a 20 to 4 run that broke the game wide open. The Mavericks cleared their bench at the mid-way point of the 3rd quarter and never looked back. Todd continued his hot shooting and Anthony Lumpkin looked to return to form from an elbow injury.

In the 4th quarter back-up Mavericks' center Lamar Sanders, wing Mike Crain, and point guard Kenny Dawkins continued to add to the blowout victory for the Mavericks. The Mavs pulled away to a 158-72 win!

MAVS SCORERS:
