Mavericks Beat North Texas Fresh

The #1 ranked SETX Mavericks (23-1) defeated the North Texas Fresh Tuesday night 131-74 at their NJEC Arena in Winnie, TX.

Rookie sensation PJ Cousinard and point guard Myles Thrash got the Mavericks going early by jumping out on the Fresh 5-0. The Fresh battled back to take a 6-5 lead when Roy Whitley hit a Jumper at the 7:56 mark in the first quarter. SETX went on an 8-0 run to take control of the first period. The Mavs led 25-20 after one period of play.

The second period belonged to the Mavericks as super sub Desmond Cambridge came off the Mavericks bench to heat up the Mavericks famed Defense! SETX led at halftime 59-37.

In the second half it was all Mavericks. Everyone got involved as SETX took total control of the game as the Mavericks went on to win by 57 points.

PJ Cousinard led six Mavericks in double figure scoring with 24 points. Jon Rogers and Odell Bradley each put in 16 points. Myles Thrash added 13 points. Currye Todd and DeSean White chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively. AD Duncan led North Texas with 22 points. Roy Whitley added 20 points. TJ Gibson chipped in 17 points.

The Mavericks will be back in action at home Thursday night vs the Dallas Stars. Tip-off will be at 7:30 PM.

* The Mavericks only allowed 74 points on .333% shooting.
