Southeast Texas Mavericks News Release
Josh Pace and DeRon Rutledge return this season to lead the defending ABA Champions Southeast Texas Mavericks as they look to defend their 2009-2010 National Championship!
Pace a 6'6-210 Swing Forward, who won an NCAA National Championship at Syracuse University with Carmelo Anthony in 2003 will return to the Mavericks as the reigning ABA MVP this season. Pace averaged 21.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg, and 1.7 steals during a stellar season last season in the ABA. Veteran Power Forward Rutledge has had a legendary professional career and will return for another season with the Mavericks. Rutledge was the ABA MVP during the '08-09 season and is the Mavericks all-time leading scorer and rebounder.
No ABA team has ever had Back to Back MVP's!
The SETX Mavericks have clearly been the most dominate team in the American Basketball Association over the course of the past two seasons. The Mavs have compiled a 54-6 record while winning Back to Back Southwest Division Championships. SETX won an amazing 30 consecutive regular season games over a two year period and was ranked #1 in the ABA Power Rankings for a record 14 consecutive weeks. This past season's National Championship was the crowning jewel thus far on the Mavericks impressive resume of accomplishments as a Pro Basketball Team!
The Mavericks tip-off play on Thursday, November 11th as they will host the Texas Hurricanes. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
The Mavericks will open up play in a New Arena this upcoming season. The Nutty Jerry's Entertainment Center (NJEC) will be the new home of the Mavericks! The NJEC is located at 18291 Englin Road in Winnie, TX 77665 off Highway 73.
