Montgomery Bears News Release
A second player tryout is set for January 21 at Robert E. Lee High School for the Montgomery Maulers of the National Indoor Football League. The coaches say they are looking for both offensive and defensive linemen and a few skill positions. Pre-registration can be done on line at www.montfgomerymaulers.com . The first tryout last month saw a lower than expected turn out in the cold weather reported Defensive Coordinator Carlos Clayton. Assistant Head coach Mike Williams said. "We had some quality talent show for our first tryout but a lot of the guys decided to wait for better weather. This is the one they need to attend."
The Maulers will start registering players at 9:00AM a Robert E Lee High School on Ann Street on January 21. Participants should bring both gym and turf shoes for the workout. There is a $50 tryout fee to be paid prior to the session. There is no charge for those invited back from the first tryout.
The Maulers have received preliminary schedules from the league office. Final 2006 schedules will be out in a few days. The Montgomery Maulers are in the Atlantic Conference Central Division with two expansion teams, the Fayetteville, Arkansas Stars and the Tennessee River Sharks of Chattanooga. The NIFL season is March through June. Coach Williams said. "The pressure is on, we're expected to win our division again this year but never underestimate an expansion team. We won our division in our expansion year and these teams will be trying to do the same."
