Montgomery Bears News Release

One brave football fan is going to have a chance to suit-up and play professional football as the Montgomery Maulers are looking for their next "Hometown Hero" to practice with the team and possibly play in the team's next home game on Saturday, June 4 against the Lakeland Thunderbolts.

The team's website (www.montgomerymaulers.com) is now taking applications for men or women who want to practice with the team and then dress and possibly play in the upcoming game.

The person selected as the "Hometown Hero" must be in good physical shape and must sign an injury waiver or other liability forms in order to participate. The team reserves all rights to select or not select contestants for any reason. Decisions made by the team are final.

Montgomery real estate developer Charlie Trottman helped kick-off the "Hometown Hero" promotion on May 14 when he joined the team and played in the Maulers 54-37 win over Rome. The 47-year-old Trottman, who played quarterback at Auburn in the late 70's, entered the game in the final minute and threw a touchdown pass to Mareno Philyaw.
