Erie BayHawks News Release

ERIE --The NBA Development League Erie BayHawks are pleased to announce the promotion of Matt Bresee to the position of team president. Bresee served as vice president of business operations for the team and his elevation to the top post is part of a planned transition that moves him into the top role. Bresee will be directly responsible to the ownership group for all marketing and business functions of the team. Sertz will remain with the BayHawks in a consultant and sales role during the transition this season.

Prior to joining the BayHawks Bresee spent three years working at Erie Insurance in public relations after spending eight years with the Erie SeaWolves serving in various capacities including two years as assistant general manager.

"We are extremely pleased with the Erie BayHawks' first year as an NBA Development League franchise. Ron Sertz provided the experience and leadership to successfully launch the BayHawks and he has hired and mentored a high performing business team along the way," said BayHawks majority owner Steve Demetriou. "Matt Bresee, who was one of Ron's first hires and handpicked to run the team, is a strong leader and shown us that he is ready to assume the team president responsibilities. On behalf of the ownership group, we want to thank Ron Sertz and we look forward to Matt Bresee taking the Erie BayHawks to the next level."

"It's been an honor to have been given the opportunity by Steve Demetriou and the ownership group to lay the foundation of the Erie BayHawks. Working under the tutelage of the NBA and in concert with the Cleveland Cavaliers was a great privilege," said Sertz. "One of our biggest objectives was to find the right leader for the future who would have the experience, dedication, and enthusiasm to take over and lead the team to continued success at the highest levels. I know Matt Bresee is that man and the timing is perfect for him to take the reins."

"I'm fortunate to have been part of this organization from the early stages and to be able to serve in this capacity for a team of this caliber in my hometown is a great opportunity for me and my family," said Bresee. "We have a great ownership group and a fantastic staff in place that are committed to building on the success of our first season. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to make this franchise something that the Erie community will be proud of for many years to come."
