Matt Boudens Suspended For 3 Games
Published on October 28, 2011 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Friday October 28th 2011 - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Disciplinary Prefect today suspended Drummondville Voltigeurs centre Matt Boudens for 3 games following a boarding incident which occurred versus the Moncton Wildcats on October 22nd.
Here is the rationale which led to this decision:
The puck was shot in the end zone. A defenseman headed towards it with the offending player forechecking the defenseman from the neutral zone.
The opponent, at the height of the goal line, made a screen in front of the player to help another defenseman involved in the play. The offending player pushed his opponent in the back, causing loss of balance and making the player hit the boards dangerously.
Even if the opponent caused some obstruction, the thrust in the player's back was useless and dangerous. The player was injured on the play.
The decision was rendered after reviewing the video of the incident, gathering the testimonies from the players and the organizations involved, reading the officials' report and consulting the independent committee in the matter of disciplinary sanctions.
