Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (4-5-8) enter battle with Orange County SC (6-8-4) as both sides look to continue their recent success. This will be the second meeting between the clubs this season; the first meeting at Orange County resulted in a 2-0 loss for the Toros on June 3.

All things considered; a draw was a very positive result coming out of Sacramento for RGV FC. The visiting side closed out a two-game road trip in California with a valuable point over top seeded Sacramento Republic FC after earning a road win just days prior at Oakland Roots SC.

The two sides were in a deadlocked battle in the opening half but an early second half goal for Republic FC gave them the advantage for 51 minutes, as Rio Grande found an answer in the aggregate time portion of the match as Taylor Davila sent a perfectly placed strike into the net at the 96th minute, to send the Toros home with the point and silence the crowd and stun Sacramento at home, something that was unexpected on paper, at least. As it has been discussed in the past by Sporting Director Wilmer Cabrera, any team can have a good day and surprise anyone in the league, this time it was his side's turn to make some noise as they kept their unbeaten streak alive, extending it to five in a row without a loss.

Orange County SC have found a new life on the pitch after newly appointed interim Head Coach, Marten Karlsen took over. They have won three of their last four and have outscored opponents 6-2 in the last the wins. This is some cause for concern for Rio Grande but the side is confident that they are in better shape now than back in early June in order to stop this dangerous front line.
