Match Preview: Ottawa Fury FC vs Swope Park Rangers

OTTAWA - On the verge of qualifying for the playoffs, the Fury FC will hit the road early this week to face the Swope Park Rangers Tuesday, October 8 at 8pm.

After an excellent game against the Indy Eleven last week, Fury FC will try to keep their focus and add another victory to their record. Nikola Popovic's side has demonstrated a very good collective game and an exemplary combativeness during the last few weeks, which is promising as the playoffs are knocking at the door. Currently in 8th place in the Eastern Conference with 48 points, Fury FC will meet Swope Park Rangers, ranked 17th in the conference. Already eliminated from the playoff race, Swope Park Rangers has had a tough season with only 6 wins with a -27-goal differential.

The first encounter between the two teams in July ended with a 4-0 mark in favor of Fury FC. Goals from Haworth, Oliveira, François and Fall propelled the team to a convincing victory.


8th place Fury FC is now nine points out of a top five spot, but are eight points ahead of the tenth-place Birmingham Legion FC, who are currently in the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Fury FC has a game in hand over the 7th place and has a game in hand over 5 teams that already have clinched a playoff spot.

Ottawa Fury FC has a record of 3W-5D-7L on the road this season.

Captain Carl Haworth was the only goal scorer for the Fury FC during last week's game. It was his 9th USL goal this season and his 5th free kick goal this season.

Leading the way offensively for Swope Park Rangers is forward Wilson Harris, who has scored 11 goals in 24 appearances.

Swope Park Rangers'record at home this season is of 5W-5D-5L
