Match Preview: Fort Lauderdale CF to Host Richmond Kickers
April 30, 2021 - United Soccer League One (USL1)
Fort Lauderdale CF News Release
Fort Lauderdale CF will host the Richmond Kickers for its fourth fixture of the 2021 USL League One campaign on Sunday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game, which will air live on ESPN+, will be played at the DRV PNK Stadium and will be the team's second home match of their 28-game regular-season schedule.
Despite a competitive 4-2 away loss against North Texas SC on April 24, Fort Lauderdale has several positive individual highlights to take into account for their upcoming match.
Following his goal against North Texas, Shann Hundal has now scored in two consecutive games and will look to add to his tally against the Kickers. Venton Evans, meanwhile, marked his season debut with a goal last week.
Richmond Kickers, the inaugural USL League One member, will play their third league match of 2021 against Fort Lauderdale on Sunday. They currently hold a 1-1-0 record this season. In 2020, they finished in fourth place in the regular season with eight wins, two draws, and six losses.
Sunday's matchup will be the second encounter between Fort Lauderdale and the Richmond Kickers. Last season, Fort Lauderdale narrowly fell 2-1 away at Richmond.
Aimé Mabika Signs

Mabika, 22, is an imposing figure standing at six-foot-six that impressed in defense for the University of Kentucky in his four years with the team. The center back made 62 total appearances for the Wildcats, recording 10 goals and contributing to 28 shutouts, while also being named team captain in 2019. He also earned C-USA All-Freshman Team honors in 2017, United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region first team and All-C-USA first team honors in 2018, and was named C-USA Player of the Year, C-USA Co-Defensive MVP and earned All-C-USA first team honors in 2019.
