Massachusetts Mutiny News Release

Boston - March 6, 2003 - Massachusetts Mutiny Head Coach, Bill Turner, announced today the signing of an agreement making Marciano Stadium the new home field of the Mutiny for the 2003 National Women's Football Association (NWFA) season. Marciano Stadium is located on the campus of Brockton High School in Brockton, Massachusetts, and is also home to the Brockton Boxers. The Massachusetts Mutiny are the defending Northern Division Champs in the NWFA, the largest women's tackle football league in the world.

"It's beautiful! A first class facility in every way," commented Turner. Marciano Stadium, named in honor of Brockton native son and former Heavyweight Champion of the World, Rocky Marciano (aka "The Brockton Blockbuster"), recently underwent a complete renovation in 2002. The stadium now features a state-of-the-art "filled turf system." This innovation consists of a loose laid mixture of sand and rubber within a fiber mat that reduces friction and provides shock absorption for athletes.

In 2002, the Northern Division Champions finished the regular season with a 7-1 record. The Mutiny has its sights set on the one prize it didn't take home in 2002, the NWFA National Championship.

"Brockton is a city of champions, and the Mutiny is looking forward to taking part in the city's proud tradition," said Turner.

The Mutiny's management also announced that, since the home field for the 2003 season has been determined, tickets for the season, starting April 12, 2003, will go on sale soon.

The Mutiny is entering its third season with the NWFA. The Mutiny palys in the Northern Division with the Maine Freeze, Connecticut Crush, Rochester Raptors and Philadelphia Phoenix. The League begins its third season on April 12, with 30 teams competing around the country.
