Massachusetts Mutiny News Release

A pair of 3-1 teams do battle Saturday night at Cushing Field on the campus of Umass Lowell at 7 pm as the Mass Mutiny and the Connecticut Crush meet head to head in a key Northern Division tilt in the National Women's Football Association (NWFA).

The Mutiny will celebrate Kids' Night Saturday. All children 14 and under are admitted free of charge. Also, in celebration of the Mutiny's commitment to Big Brothers/Big Sisters, all bigs and littles are admitted free of charge. Halftime activities will be provided for children on the field.

The Mutiny comes off a 40-0 thrashing of the Maine Freeze last week. The defense forced six turnovers on five interceptions and a blocked punt, holding the Freeze to –17 total yards in the second half. Deb Deltoro led the defense with two sacks and a blocked punt. Kendra Cestone returned one of the interceptions 70 yards for a touchdown. The defense has strung together three straight shutouts and 12 consecutive scoreless quarters.

Offensively, the Mutiny relies on a relentless ground game led by the tandem of Jeannette Smith and Tara Fay. Smith has rushed for 376 yards and 6 touchdowns. Fay has rushed for 267 yards and 3 touchdowns. Karolyn Domini has completed 50% of her passes this season for 428 yards, with 5 touchdowns. Her favorite target is wideout Ginger Snow, who has 15 catches for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns.
