MASL Extends Trade Deadline to February 20, 2020
February 7, 2020 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) News Release
The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Board of Directors met this morning and voted to extend the trade deadline, originally set for February 6, to February 20. The Roster Freeze deadline remains February 20 as well.
The extension became necessary as the MASL and its member teams continue to deal with pending immigration issues. Due to changes in the Visa application review process, many MASL player Visa applications have been delayed due to requests for more information from the United States government.
"We felt it was in the best interest of the pending players to give them every opportunity to play this year by giving further time for Visa decisions," said Commissioner Joshua Schaub. "This also balanced competition as certain teams are impacted more than others."
The MASL will continue to work with its member teams and legal counsel to work through the immigration processes so that new athletes and veteran players who have been a part of arena soccer history for many years can continue to provide quality, exciting entertainment for fans across North America.
