June 18, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release

Upper Marlboro, MD. Andrew Haines, CEO of the ABA's Maryland Nighthawks, the professional basketball team scheduled to begin play in November, today announced the signing of Ed Geth as Assistant Coach. Geth, a 4-year letterman at the University of North Carolina and a member of the 1993 NCAA national championship team, played under the legendary Dean Smith - and played with such greats as George Lynch, Donald Williams, Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, Shammond Williams, Antwawn James, Jeff McGinnis and Vince Carter. According to Haines, "Ed will bring to the Nighthawks the same philosophies, techniques, discipline, and style that he learned from Coach Smith and will help Coach Twiggy Sanders turn our team into a top flight contender for the ABA Championship."

Geth played professionally in Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he earned seven varsity letters in basketball and track at Granby High School in Norfolk, was an honor roll student and All-American basketball player and played in the 1992 McDonalds Capital Classic All-Star Game and played on an AAU team with Allen Iverson and Joe Smith. Geth added, "I enjoyed my high school, college and pro career as a player - and now I hope to add "successful winning coach" to my resume. I am thrilled with the opportunity to be a part of the ABA. It is an exciting league - and the quality of player is outstanding."
