Maryland Nighthawks Announce 2008 Regular Season Schedule
Rockville, MD - The Maryland Nighthawks will open the 2008 PBL regular season on Saturday, Jan. 5, when they host the Wilmington Sea Dawgs, tipping their inaugural season in the Premier Basketball League.
The Nighthawks will play a 20-game season, and will host 10 home games, all being played on Saturdays and Sundays at the new Georgetown Prep Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence. Four Saturday evening games will tip-off at 7:00pm and six Sunday afternoon games will begin at 4:00pm.
"This is a power packed schedule right from the opening night tip-off," said Adam Dantus, Maryland Nighthawks Sales and Marketing Director. "With all home games being played on the weekends at the new Georgetown Prep Field House, it allows the whole family to come out and experience exciting basketball and entertainment at such an astonishing showground."
The Nighthawks will open their road schedule when they travel to Reading, PA to play the expansion Reading Railers on Jan.6 before returning home on Jan. 13 to face the Railers again in Maryland . The month of January also includes two of the team's six back-to-back sets, beginning on Jan. 26 when the Nighthawks will face host the Jacksonville Jam and then play the following afternoon against the Reading Railers.
February starts with a trip to Dallas on Feb. 2 when the Nighthawks will play the expansion Defenders. The month is also highlighted with five home games, including two back-to-back sets. On Feb. 9, the Nighthawks will host Wilmington and the following afternoon tip-off against the Rochester Razorsharks. The following weekend the Nighthawks will host another back-to-back set when they square off against the Jacksonville Jam on Feb. 16 and the Rock River Fury on Feb. 17. The Nighthawks will then play three games in four nights as they travel to Rochester, NY to play the Razorsharks on Feb. 21, then to Arkansas against the Impact on Feb. 23, before returning home on Feb. 24 as they host the Rochester Razorsharks.
The Nighthawks will conclude February while embarking their longest road trip of the season in Chicago on Feb. 29 when they play the expansion Aztecas. The Nighthawks then will make their way to Rochester , NY on Mar. 6 to play to Razorsharks, Mar. 8 in Quad Cities against the Riverhawks, before wrapping up their four game road trip in Pennsylvania against the Reading Railers on Mar 15. The Nighthawks will return home on Mar. 16 and finish out the regular season against the Railers.
The league will be divided into two divisions, East and West, with five teams in each division. The Nighthawks will play in the East Division joined by the Jacksonville Jam, Reading Railers, Rochester Razorsharks, and Wilmington Sea Dawgs. The West Division will be include the Arkansas Impact, Chicago Aztecas, Dallas Defenders, Quad Cities Riverhawks, and Rock River Fury. The league plans on releasing an announcement shortly regarding the post season playoffs.
The Nighthawks are now taking deposits on 2008 season tickets that feature all 10 regular season home games. Nighthawks season tickets start at just $6 per game and can be reserved now by calling (301) 758-1090 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Individual game tickets will go on sale in November.
