Chillicothe Paints News Release

BUTLER, Pa. - Gama Martinez and Andrew Czech hit the Chillicothe Paints' (3-2) first home runs of the 2018 season in an 11-5 win over the BlueSox (2-4) at Kelly Automotive Park Tuesday night.

Following a leadoff walk to start the game, Martinez homered to right field to give the Paints, presented by Adena Health System, an early 2-0 lead.

The Paints and BlueSox traded runs the next couple innings, leading to a 2-2 tie after two innings.

Butler took a 3-2 lead in the fourth when Steven Kokoski tripled to leadoff the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nick Mancuso.

The Paints collected four hits and took advantage of a Butler error and a wild pitch to plate three runs in the sixth to regain the lead at 6-4.

Butler got a run back in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Paints' lead to 6-5, but Chillicothe was able to score when Trace Hatfield scored on a Cole Heavilin triple, reestablishing the two-run lead for the visitors.

Chillicothe took advantage of two Butler errors and added on in the eighth with four more runs, capped off by a three-run home run by Czech, hit first of the season.

The Paints scored double-digit runs and collected ten or more hits for the first time this season in the win.

Chillicothe returns home to VA Memorial Stadium for a two-game series with the Hannibal Hoots Wednesday and Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. both nights.
