
Martin Agosta Named California League Pitcher of the Week

SAN JOSE, CA- San Jose Giants right-handed pitcher Martin Agosta has been named California League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on June 21. In Agosta's start against Inland Empire on Friday, he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning while striking out a season-high nine in seven shutout frames. Overall, the right-hander allowed just one hit and one walk as the Giants beat the 66ers 11-0 at Municipal Stadium.
Agosta is the first San Jose Giant to receive Pitcher of the Week honors in 2015 and also the first to do so since 2013. A second round selection by the San Francisco Giants in the 2012 draft, the right-hander has averaged 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings this season and is holding opponents to a .269 batting average.
The San Jose Giants will begin their second half Thursday night against the Modesto Nuts at Municipal Stadium. The four game series includes fireworks extravaganzas on Friday and Saturday nights as well as First Responders Appreciation Day on Sunday.
