The New Jersey Jackals swept the Rockland Boulders with a 6-3 victory on Thursday night in the final game of the series at Yogi Berra Stadium. Jackals starting pitcher Justin Brantley earned his sixth victory of the year after tossing seven strong innings while allowing three runs in the contest.
New Jersey started the game with a three-run blast from left fielder Alfredo Marte scoring Santiago Chirino and Conrad Gregor. The homer gave Marte a Can-Am leading 13th of the season.
Rockland began a rally in the fourth, scoring three runs on two doubles, a single and a sacrifice fly from Adam Ehrlich to tie the game.
In the fifth, Nelson Ward doubled and scored on an overthrow while stealing third to regain the lead. The Boulders began to struggle defensively with an error from Reinaldo Lopez, advancing Chirino to third. David Harris continued to swing a hot bat for the Jackals with a single to left, scoring Chirino and Marte.
Reece Karalas made his 26th appearance of the season and pitched two successful innings striking out three batters to earn his third save of the season. The Jackals will be back in action Friday night to host the Ottawa Champions in the first of a three-game series starting at 7:05 p.m.
