Florida Seals News Release

Defenseman Mark White, who led the Orlando Seals in scoring by defensemen last season, has agreed to play for the Seals for the 2003-04 season.

Not only did White lead the Seals in scoring among defensemen, he also led the entire league with a plus/minus rating of +39. White also had the game winning goal in the Seals' President's Cup clinching victory.

The six-foot 200-pounder from Woburn, Mass., had 12 goals and 42 assists for 54 points while appearing in all 59 Seals regular season games. He chipped in with another goal and four assists for five points in the playoffs.

"Mark was the best defenseman in the league last year, and he's a valuable asset in every facet of the game," Seals coach Stan Drulia said. "He's a great leader and very well respected by his teammates. We'll be counting on him even more this year as we defend our championship."

That's a role, White is very much expecting to enjoy.

"I think Orlando is the best city you can play minor pro hockey in. I liked how professional the organization is," White said. "Stan was a great coach last year, and I'd like to have the opportunity to win another championship for the city."

Season tickets for the defending President Cup champion Orlando Seals are now on sale. For further information, contact the Seals at (407) 447-PUCK (7825).
