Mayhem Fall, Hold Onto Top Spot in East In a battle of first place teams, the Marion Mayhem dropped a wild 74-60 decision to the Chicago Slaughter on Saturday night at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, IL.
In the game, Slaughter quarterback Russ Michna tied a league record with eight touchdown passes.
Despite the loss, the Mayhem maintained their hold on first place in the Eastern Division of the Continental Indoor Football League. The Mayhem currently sport a record of 3-2, a game ahead of the Ft. Wayne Freedom, who are sitting in second place in the division.
This Weekend's Mayhem The Mayhem are off this weekend.
The Joy of Six The Mayhem are second in the CIFL in touchdowns scored with 32. In addition, Mayhem quarterback Tavares Woodley is second in the CIFL in touchdowns scored, finding the end zone 21 times via the air and once where he ran it in himself.
Doin' It All Mayhem running back Maurice Douse is second in the CIFL in all-purpose yards with 497 (28 rushing, 263 coming on pass receptions, and 206 on kickoff returns).
Upcoming Mayhem The Mayhem will return to the field next Saturday night, April 25th, when they will travel to Wheeling, where they will take on the expansion Wheeling Wildcats at the Wesbanco Arena, with kickoff set for 7:00PM.
The Mayhem's next home game will be on Saturday, May 2nd, when the Miami Valley Silverbacks make their second appearance at the Coliseum this spring.
About the Wildcats The Wildcats are in their first season in the CIFL, and after five weekends of the 2009 campaign, are still looking for their first win. The Mayhem and Wildcats (0-4) tangled in the season's opening weekend, with the Mayhem coming out on the winning end of a 55-47 decision on March 13th.
The Wildcats are third in the CIFL in offense, scoring an average of 43.0 points per game. The Mayhem are second in the league in that category, averaging 46.4 points per game.
The Wildcats are last in the league on defense, allowing 51.5 points per game. The Mayhem are fourth in the CIFL in that category, allowing 40.0 points per game.
