
Mariners Lose Final Game of Home Stand

Pulaski, VA (June 26, 2011) - A long night was in store for the Pulaski Mariners as they looked for the sweep against the Princeton Rays. Lack of control and errors plagued the Mariners all night as they lost to the Rays 14-2.
The Mariners never saw the lead in this game with the Rays scoring twice in the first inning on a base hit by Ryan Terry. After both teams tallying one run in the third, Princeton blew the game open scoring seven runs in the fourth inning. Princeton was able to bat around, sending twelve batters to the plate. Of the seven runs scored by the Rays, only one was earned. Princeton then cruised to the finish adding one run in the eigth inning and three in the ninth.
Ambioris Hildalgo (1-1) was hit with the loss for the Mariners only lasting three innings, allowing three earned runs, and striking out three. Efrain Nunez hit his first home run of the season in a 1-3 effort.
Felipe Rivero got the win for the Rays going five strong innings and allowing two earned runs. Reinaldo Lopez was credited with the save, throwing the final four innings.
The Mariners will return home on July 4 for their next home stand.
