Mariners Bats Stay Hot, Defeat Kingsport 13-2

Pulaski, VA- Pulaski put up thirteen runs in a decisive 13-2 home victory over the last-place Kingsport Mets Saturday night. The Mariners have won three straight games moving them past Bluefield for forth place in the Appalachian League East Division.
For the second night in a row, Mariners left fielder Reggie Lawson jumpstarted the offense early by hitting a homerun in the first inning. The two-run blast was Lawson's third of the season and gave him his fifth RBI. From that point on, the M's managed to score in all but two innings of the game.
The bottom of the lineup (6,7,8,9 batters) scored ten of the thirteen Pulaski runs and accounted for eleven hits on the night. Also, Hebert (2-4), Lawson (2-5 2HR), Henry (3-4 BB), Pizzano (3-4 BB), Peguero (3-5), and Lampe (2-5) all had multi-hit games.
Mariners lefty, Wander Marte, secured his first win of the year throwing five solid innings of shutout baseball. The 6'2'' Dominican struck out six Kingsport batters, walked one, and gave up only three hits while throwing 75 percent of his pitches for strikes. A combination of Nick Valenza, Domingo Brazoban, and Levi Dean, took over pitching duties for Marte and held the Mets to a meager three runs.
The Mariners will play game two of their three game series against Kingsport tomorrow, 4p.m, at Historic Calfee Park.
