
Marder Placed on DL, Brady Returns, Shackleford off DL, Hernandez to DL

JACKSON, TENN. - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves that affect the Generals roster. INF Jack Marder has been placed on the disabled list with a closed head injury and INF Patrick Brady returns to Jackson from Hi-A High Desert. Also, RHP Stephen Shackleford has been reinstated from DL and RHP Moises Hernandez has been placed on the DL.
Brady, 26, was on the Opening Day Generals roster and batted .308 (16-52) in 17 games with Jackson this season. He has 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 7 RBIs. In 22 games with A+ High Desert, Brady hit .222 (18-81) with 3 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs and 18 RBIs. Brady was promoted to Triple-A Tacoma on May 13 and played 7 games, hitting .100 (2-20) with one RBI. He also played 2 games with the Everett AquaSox batting .571. Brady was the Mariners' 48th round draft choice in 2010 out of Bellarmine College (KY).
Marder, 24, has been placed on the disabled list with a closed head injury, retroactive to Sunday, July 20. Marder was struck in the head in the seventh inning of Saturday night's game in Montgomery. Marder has become a very useful utility man for the Generals, playing 4 different positions in 74 games this season. He has hit .277 (66-238) with 11 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs and 24 RBIs. He has helped turn 8 double plays this season and only has eight errors, playing most of his time at second base. Marder was selected in the 16th round of the 2011 out of the University of Oregon.
Shackleford, 25, has been reinstated from the disabled list. In 29 appearances he has a record of 5-2 with a 3.65 ERA. In 44.1 innings he has allowed 20 runs on 43 hits, 23 walks and 46 strikeouts. He was signed as a free agent by the Mariners in 2011 and is from Louisville, KY.
Hernandez, 30, has been placed on the disabled list. He's 0-4 in 21 appearances with 5.31 ERA. In 40.2 innings he's allowed 48 hits, 27 runs, 15 walks, 24 strike outs. Hernandez was signed by Seattle in 2011.
