Marauders Open Road Trip with Comeback Win
June 20, 2023 - Florida State League (FSL)
Bradenton Marauders News Release
Lakeland, Fla.--- The Marauders (35-29) and the Lakeland Flying Tigers (25-39) met for the first game of a six-game series at Publix Field on a beautiful Tuesday night for baseball in the Sunshine State. The Marauders trailed entering the later innings of the contest but would count on power hitting yet again to secure their fourth consecutive victory by a final score of 6-2.
The game got off to a loud start when Termarr Johnson hit a line drive home run to right field in the top half of the first to give Bradenton an early 1-0 advantage after half an inning.
Lakeland's bats were alive though early as well, as they brought in a run to score in the home half of the first on a sacrifice fly to level the game at 1-1 after an inning played.
Lakeland tallied another run in the second, but Marauders starter Owen Kellington was able to pitch out of the bases-loaded jam he found himself in to restrict the Tiger's lead to 2-1.
Both teams' bats fell silent in the middle innings, and the Marauders found themselves down 2-1 entering the top of the seventh, looking for someone to step up and be a hero... Termarr Johnson would be that hero.
The Pirates' number one ranked prospect hit a high drive to deep right centerfield that cleared the wall to tie the game at 2-2, setting up a thrilling ninth inning.
Enmanuel Terrero led off the Marauder's half of the ninth and broke up his 0-3 day with a monster blast to right field to put the Marauders up 3-2 just three pitches into the final inning.
Bradenton would add three more runs in the ninth before handing the ball off to Ryan Harbin, who slammed the door on the Tigers to seal the 6-2 victory.
Bradenton and Lakeland face off again on Wednesday night at Publix Field, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00.
