Bradenton Marauders News Release
Fort Myers, Fla.--- The Marauders (40-24, 75-54) and the Fort Myers Might Mussels (33-31, 67-63) for the penultimate game of a six-game series on a cool and breezy Saturday night in Lee County. Bradenton fell behind early and worked hard to overcome a sizeable deficit on the way to stealing a 5-4 win.
The Young Bucs starter, Dominic Perachi, went two innings, gave up three earned runs, and did not take a decision in his final appearance of the year.
In a game where each team only registered three hits a piece, the Fort Myers offense was surprisingly alive in the early going.
A handful of walks given away and a couple of hits off the bats of Yohander Martinez and Walker Jenkins put the home side up 4-0 after just two innings of play.
The Marauders were made to wait until the fourth inning for their first hit that opened the floodgates on a solid run-scoring inning.
After a leadoff strikeout, Charles McAdoo singled and Kalae Harrison walked to put two men on with one away for Esmerlyn Valdez. In just his seventh Single-A game, the youngster smoked a triple off the wall in right-centerfield to bring in a pair of runs to halve the deficit.
A single from Javier Rivas to score Valdez, followed by a sacrifice fly off the bat of Mitch Jebb, tied the game at 4-4.
The Marauders did not record any hits in the game aside from the fourth inning; despite this, the game went into the ninth inning still level at 4-4.
Lonnie White Jr. walked to lead off the ninth for Bradenton and advanced to second on a stolen base before a groundout moved him up to third.
Mitch Jebb showed up when his team needed him most when he launched a fly out to right field that ended up being plenty deep enough for White Jr. to jog home and score, giving Bradenton a 5-4 lead going to the bottom half of the final frame.
In the home ninth, Patrick Reilly breezed through the Mussels lineup to grab a save while sealing Bradenton's 5-4 win.
The Marauders play their final game of the regular season on Sunday at Noon.
