Bradenton Marauders News Release

Fort Myers, FL - The Fort Myers Miracle (1-1) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Bradenton Marauders (1-1) 3-2 on Friday night at Hammond Stadium. Bradenton starter Brandon Waddell didn't factor in the decision but was impressive in his Marauders debut, tossing five scoreless innings on 54 pitches (39 strikes) and whiffing four. Both hits Waddell surrendered were soft infield singles.

CF Elvis Escobar staked the Marauders to a 2-0 lead in the fifth. His two-out, two-run blast off Kohl Stewart followed a two -out walk to DH Chase Simpson. Stewart whiffed seven over six innings for Fort Myers.

The Miracle capitalized on an error by Escobar in the sixth to score their first run against RHP Miguel Rosario (L, 0-1). Es- cobar overran a Nick Gordon single, allowing Ryan Walker to score all the way from first.

Things didn't go any smoother for Rosario in the seventh. A hit batter opened the inning, and consecutive singles tied the game. After a sacrifice bunt, Rosario was lifted for RHP Henry Hirsch. Walker's single to center plated the eventual winning run.

Luke Westphal (W, 1-0), Yorman Landa, and Trevor Hildenberger combined to blank Bradenton over the final three innings. Fort Myers pitchers teamed for 12 strikeouts.
