EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats started off the offseason signing period in a big way with wide receiver Tommy Manus becoming the first player to resign with the team for the 2007 season. The 6'5" 226 pound Manus joined the BlueCats late last season and was an important part of the BlueCats offense during last season's playoff run to the UIF Semi-Finals.
In 3 games with the team last season, Manus had 13 receptions for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 5 reception, 98 yard, 2 touchdown performance during the opening round playoff win over the Omaha Beef. The return of Tommy Manus immediately gets the BlueCats started with a big target on offense.
Tommy first joined the BlueCats last July after signing a rookie free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens in 2005. He played in 3 preseason games with the Ravens before an injury forced his release and an injury settlement. Manus also spent time with the LA Avengers in the AFL, where he played wide receiver and linebacker. Last season, he also played in 4 games split between the af2 Memphis Xplorers and Louisville Fire, with 9 catches, 131 yards, and 4 touchdowns. In college, he led Morgan State in receptions and earned All-MEAC Conference honors as a senior in 2004. He caught 64 passes for 658 yards and 6 touchdowns in 2004, and had 40 catches for 578 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2003.
