Manatees Take on the South this Weekend

Coming up: The Manatees begin their second consecutive week playing three games in three nights. The Manatees will head to Macon for the first time to take on the Trax at 7:05 pm, and then head back to Miami for two games against the Alabama Slammers on Saturday and Sunday.

The Manatees have played the Trax one time this season, derailing them by a score of 10-6 on November 8th in Miami. In that first ever game for the Manatees, Eric Perricone led the way with three goals and three assists, while linemate Darren Cain also added three goals of his own, notching the first hat trick ever in WHA2 history.

After the Manatees play the Trax, they will head home to take on the Alabama Slammers Saturday and Sunday at the Miami Arena. The two teams have not faced each other this season. Game time for Saturday is 7:05pm, and Sunday's game in 5:00.

Manatee Notes: After four losses on the road, the Manatees dropped to fourth place in the WHA2 with eleven points through ten games. They remain three points out of being tied for first place. They have a record of 5-4-0-1, having earned a point in six of ten of their games this season. They are undefeated in four games at home, and are second in the league (behind Macon) by scoring an average of 4.5 goals a game (through ten games). The Manatees are fourth in the league by giving up 41 goals so far this season.

The Manatees have the second ranked power-play and top ranked penalty-kill in the WHA2. The Manatees power-play is operating at a 22% efficiency rate, while the penalty kill has killed off 85.5% (53-62) of their opponent's power-plays.

Through 10 games, the Manatees have three of the top ten scorers in the WHA2.

Tied for first in the league with Alabama's Paul Vincent with 21 points is left wing Eric Perricone. Perricone's ten goals puts him 2nd in the league in goal scoring behind Vincent's 11 goals.

Oak Hewer is third in league scoring with 20 points, and fourth in the league with 11 assists.

The Manatees have two of the top three scoring defensemen in the WHA2. Tom Perry is the leading scorer among defenseman with 14 points, and JF Picard is third with 10 points.

Goaltender Sean Weaver is second in the league in wins with five, and is fifth in the league with a 3.86 GAA (min. 5 games).

Due to a illness in the family, defenseman Dmitri Doulebenets has taken a leave of absence and will return to the Manatees near the end of December.
