Miami – Exploding for six goals in the third period, the Miami Manatees knocked off the visiting Lakeland Loggerheads 9-3 in front of 842 fans at the Miami Arena.

The game was tied at the start of the third period, but Greg LeColst scored the game-winning goal 2:43 seconds into the third on the Manatees first power-play of the game. LeColst also added his third goal of the game at 17:54. The top line of Hewer, LeColst, and Hewer each ended up with four points on the night

Zdnek Vanc, Kevin Swider, Oak Hewer, and Darcy Johnson also scored goals in the third period, and the nine goals by the Manatees were their most since opening night when they scored ten goals against the Macon Trax.

Getting the Manatee goals in the first two periods were Darren Cain, Tom Kotsopoulos, and Greg LeColst. Mark Gowan made 30 saves on 33 shots to improve his record 7-5-1, while Tyler Murray made 36 saves on 45 shots in the loss.

The Loggerheads come back for the rematch Sunday, face-off time is 5:00 at the Miami Arena.

The Miami Manatees face off against the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, and Orlando Seals in the WHA2's inaugural season. All games are broadcast on www.irn.fm.
