Mammoths seek revenge on Pirates

May 30, 2018 - National Arena League (NAL)
Maine Mammoths News Release

PORTLAND- The Maine Mammoths (1-5) host the Massachusetts Pirates (5-3), who recently lost to the Jacksonville Sharks in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Mammoths and Pirates faced each other three weeks ago in a 43-44 loss in overtime in Massachusetts. The Mammoths look to have what it takes against the Pirates, but they first have to execute on the field and use the home field advantage to their side.

Two weeks ago in Jacksonville against the Sharks, the Mammoths were leading at halftime, but it didn't last very long as the Sharks held the Mammoths to three points in the second half. Quarterback Jonathan Bane threw for 163 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Wide Receiver Devin Wilson had an incredible game, as always, with five receptions for 63 yards and two touchdowns. The main target was Edgar Poe Jr. with 11 receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown.

The Mammoths defense looked strong, forcing Sharks Quarterback Adrian McPherson to throw two interceptions. Linebacker Niko Sierra recovered a fumble and one pass breakup. The incredible first half was promising for the Mammoths since they sent the game against the Pirates in overtime after a great first half. Mammoths Kicker, Henry Nell, attempted one Drop-Kick, but missed. He did make a Drop-Kick, but a penalty quickly wiped that away. The Mammoths special teams will look to have a great game against a roughed up Pirates team.

Saturday's game will be shown on YouTube Live and will be posted on the team's social media pages. That will provide all the information on how to watch the game live on your phone or your computer.

The Mammoths are in Columbus, Georgia next week to take on the number one Columbus Lions (4-1) on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 7:00 pm (ET).
