Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth, off to its best start since 2008, seeks to improve to 4-0 on Saturday night at 7pm MT at Pepsi Center as it takes on the Rochester Knighthawks. Saturday's game marks the first time in Mammoth forward John Grant Jr.'s career that he will take on his former team, one he played for from 2000-2010.

"This game against my old team has got me a little more fired up," said Grant. "[Rochester] traded me away, thought I was washed up and too old... It would be extra special to win this one - that's for sure."

The Knighthawks won the teams' last head-to-head meeting, 12-8, in 2009 at Pepsi Center. Colorado owns a 7-5 advantage in games in Denver, while Rochester leads the overall series, 11-10.

The Mammoth enters the weekend in first-place with a one-game lead in the West Division over the Calgary Roughnecks, a team Colorado defeated in overtime at Scotiabank Saddledome last Saturday night.

Rochester, meanwhile, plays against the defending-NLL-champion Rock in Toronto tonight, and then in Colorado tomorrow. Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen referenced what the Mammoth crowd, notoriously large and loud, will be like for the young players on his roster.

"It's going to be an eye-opener for a lot of them."

Dating back to last season, the Mammoth has won four straight at home and five of its last six regular-season games overall.

"Wins are pretty tough to come by in this league," said Colorado head coach Bob Hamley. "Every game's a battle."

The Mammoth All-Decade Team will be honored during a special halftime ceremony at Saturday's game. Tickets to all Mammoth regular-season home games are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
