Mammoth captain named NLL player of the week

DENVER - Colorado Mammoth captain Gavin Prout has been named the National Lacrosse League's overall player of the week for his performance in Friday's victory over the Calgary Roughnecks.

Prout, second in the league with 41 assists, had his best of game of the season last weekend in Calgary. He scored a season-high three goals and added six assists to lead all scorers with nine points. The Mammoth pulled away in the second half for an 11-6 win to improve to 6-3 and reclaim sole possession of first place in the West Division.

The NLL also announced that Mike Hominuck of the Edmonton Rush was named offensive player of the week. Goaltender Matt Vinc of the New York Titans was named defensive player of the week and teammate John Orsen was named transition player of the week. Minnesota Swarm forward Craig Point was named rookie of the week for the fourth time this season.
