Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (April 1, 2014) - Quad City Mallards forward Jim McKenzie has returned to the Mallards from the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild, the Mallards announced today.

McKenzie, 29, scored three goals and added five assists in 26 games with Iowa after signing a professional tryout agreement with the Wild on January 8. The St. Paul, Minnesota, native was tied for the Mallard team lead in goals (11) and points (24) at the time of his call-up and was leading the club in power play goals (4) and penalty minutes (67) when he joined the Wild. McKenzie registered a plus/minus rating of +3 while playing in each of the Mallards' first 28 games.

The 6' 2", 200-pound McKenzie has scored seven times and totaled 17 points in 93 career AHL games for the Wild, Binghampton Senators, Lake Erie Monsters, Worcester Sharks and Peoria Rivermen.

McKenzie, a Mallard alternate captain, returns to the Quad Cities just in time for the start of the Central Hockey League playoffs. The Mallards, who will open the postseason Friday night in Rapid City against the Rush, left a spot available for McKenzie when finalizing their playoff roster yesterday.

After Friday night's postseason opener, the Mallards and Rush will meet for game two of their best-of-seven opening round series Saturday evening in Rapid City. The Mallards return home for game three on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:05 p.m. and game four on Friday, April 11 at 7:05 p.m. If a fifth game is necessary, it will be played on Saturday night April 12 at 7:05 p.m. at the iWireless Center. Should a sixth game be required, the series will shift back to Rapid City on Tuesday, April 15. If the series goes to a seventh game, the Rush would host the deciding contest on Wednesday, April 16.

Tickets for Mallards home playoff games can be purchased in person at the iWireless Center box office, online at ticketmaster.com, at Ticketmaster outlets or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000 .
