
Mallards Sign Shelast; Reese Waived

MOLINE, Ill. (October 20, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have signed right wing Tyler Shelast (TIGH-luhr SHEE-last) and have waived center Jason Reese.
Shelast, 26, last season scored two goals and totaled five points in 32 games for the American Hockey League's Texas Stars and produced a pair of goals and an assist in five games with the CHL's Allen Americans. The Kelowna, British Columbia, native also spent part of 2008-09 in the AHL, playing 17 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs. That campaign also saw the 6' 1", 202-pound Shelast collect nine goals and 21 points in 31 games with the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads. Shelast broke into pro hockey with the AHL's Iowa Stars just after completing his college career at Michigan Tech in the spring of 2008. He notched a goal and an assist in 11 games with Iowa.
In four years at Tech Shelast scored 51 goals and totaled 87 points in 151 career games. He led the Huskies in goal scoring in both his junior and senior seasons.
Reese, 22, did not play in the Mallards' season opener against the Odessa Jackalopes last Saturday. The Gresham, Oregon, native split last season among the CHL's Wichita Thunder, Arizona Sundogs and Texas Brahmas.
The Mallards return to action with three games in three nights this weekend. The Flock visits the Dayton Gems Friday night at 6:30 p.m. and will travel to Evansville to take on the IceMen Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. before returning home for a rematch with Evansville Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m.
Sunday afternoon is the Mallards' first Family Day Presented by APAC Customer Services, Inc. and Mix 96. Family Day enables fans to purchase four tickets, four beverages and four hot dogs all for just $34. Fans attending next Sunday's game will also have the chance to join their favorite Mallards on the ice for a postgame skate. Sunday's game will be followed by three more Mallards Sunday Family Days- contests on November 21 against Dayton, December 12 against Fort Wayne and January 30 against Missouri. Tickets for all Mallards regular season home games are available in person at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days other than Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the end of the first period. On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the end of the first period.
