Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards have signed rookie defenseman Mike Grace, the Mallards announced today.

"Mike is a promising young defenseman and we're excited about what he can bring to our club," said Mallards coach and general manager Terry Ruskowski. "He played in and had a lot of success with a very strong college program where he was reliable and consistent in his own end and also contributed offensively."

Grace, 24, joins the Mallards after completing a sterling four-year career at the State University of New York-Plattsburgh. The Rochester, New York, native scored once and totaled nine points in 26 games for Plattsburgh last season. In all, he scored ten goals and produced 52 points in 105 career games as a Cardinal.

Plattsburgh reached the NCAA Division III tournament in each of Grace's first three years and progressed to the Frozen Four in his freshman season. In addition, the 6' 1", 170-pound blueliner helped the Cardinals to back-to-back State University of New York Athletic Conference titles in 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Grace also earned a host of individual honors during his time at Plattsburgh. He was named to the 2011-12 American Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-America Second Team and was a three-time All-SUNYAC selection. He earned All-Conference honors in 2010-11 (Second Team), 2011-12 (First Team) and 2012-13 (Third Team). Grace was also tapped for the 2010-11 SUNYAC All-Academic Team.

Before heading to Plattsburgh, Grace spent two seasons with the Capitol District Selects of the Eastern Junior Hockey League.

Mallards 2013-14 season tickets are now on sale. The Mallards offer ticket packages to meet any budget and season ticket holders also receive a host of additional benefits, including a unique season ticket holder Mallards jersey.
