Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (March 13, 2013) - The Quad City Mallards will wear special edition St. Patrick's Day jerseys when they take on the Bloomington Blaze Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at the i wireless Center and those jerseys will go up for bid in a live auction immediately following the game to benefit Genesis Outpatient Rehabilitation.

This marks the second time this season the Mallards and the Genesis Health Services Foundation will team for a game worn jersey auction. Proceeds from Friday night's auction will go toward the purchase of new equipment for brain and spinal cord injury patients.

"We've been looking forward to this event. We think the jersey theme will make the jerseys attractive to fans and Mallards fans have always responded to these auctions,'' said Ken Croken, vice president of corporate communications and marketing, Genesis Health System. "We continue to be amazed by the support and generosity of Mallards fans. They know the proceeds go to a good cause and they respond accordingly. We're very grateful for their support.''

In January, an auction of Mallards retro jerseys marking the fifteenth anniversary of the team's back-to-back 1997 and 1998 championships raised $21,500 for the Genesis Flu-Free QC program. Over the past 18 years, Mallards jersey auctions have raised nearly $700,000 to benefit Genesis Health System Charities.

"We're very grateful that we have another opportunity this season to work together with Genesis to raise funds for such a vital cause," said Mallard president Bob McNamara. "In January our fans yet again showed the tremendous generosity that has made Mallard jersey auctions so successful over the years and we're excited to be able to provide this opportunity for them to demonstrate that community spirit again."

The white St. Patrick's Day jerseys feature a pair of shamrocks on both the front and back and are stylishly trimmed in the green and orange that are a part of the Mallards' existing color scheme.

Friday evening's game is also a $1 Dog, $1 Beer College Night- hot dogs and beer will be available to all fans for just $1 at i wireless Center concession stands during that game.
