Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards' accomplishments both during the 2012-13 season and this summer have been recognized by the Central Hockey League at the league's annual summer conference, the Mallards announced today.
The league meetings, held last week in Phoenix, saw the Mallards named a runner-up for the CHL's Most Improved Franchise in 2012-13 and the Mallards' Zac Wilken finish as a runner-up for the Ticket Sales Executive of the Year award.
On the heels of last season's accomplishments, this summer has seen the Mallards enjoy great success in season ticket sales. It was noted at the league conference that, to this point in the summer, the Mallards have produced the largest increase in new season ticket sales in the CHL.
"We're excited about the positive momentum we've generated this summer in addition to what we were able to accomplish during the second half of last season," said Mallards president Bob McNamara. "We've been working hard to make 2013-14 a successful season both on and off the ice. We feel very good about what we've already accomplished in terms of both ticket sales and building corporate partnerships as well as Terry Ruskowski's efforts in putting together another exciting team to take the ice next season."
The Mallards' strong summer continues an on- and off-ice upsurge that started midway through last season. The Mallards drew an average of better than 5,200 fans to their Friday and Saturday home games during the second half of the campaign. That attendance up-tick saw the team welcome two crowds of better than 7,500 in the same season for the first time since 2003-04. 7.531 fans watched the Mallards' March 22 game after the club set a 10-year high by welcoming 9,347 fans to a January 19 tilt.
The throngs who came out to the i wireless Center during the second half of the campaign were rewarded with a superb performance on the ice as Ruskowski's team streaked into the CHL playoffs. The Mallards went 19-8-2 in their final 29 games and ripped off 11 wins in 13 games in the month of March.
The Mallards will bring ample momentum into the 2013-14 season when the curtain lifts on the campaign in late October. The Mallards offer ticket packages to meet any budget and season ticket holders also receive a host of additional benefits, including a unique season ticket holder Mallards jersey. More season ticket information is available by calling the Mallards at 309-277-1364.
