Malark Becomes Third Jet to Commit

Fargo (ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets Junior A Hockey team is proud to announce that Lance Malark, has signed to play Division I ice hockey. Malark has officially committed to the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT.

Malark joins teammate Chris Myhro who announced last week he will play for the Huskies next fall as well. UConn plays in the Atlantic Hockey League. The Huskies went 11-23-3 this past season.

Malark joins current Jets Brent Olson (Air Force) and Tom Dickhudt (Bentley), along with Myhro (UConn) and former Jets Dan DiLeo (Cornell) and Brandon Svendsen (Bowling Green) who have committed to Division I schools during this season.

With UConn, Malark will see a few familiar faces as three members of the 2003-2004 Jets squad are in Atlantic Hockey as well. Mark Agnew plays for Quinnipiac, while Jeff Fearing is with Army. Former Jets head coach Shawn Kurulak is also in the league as a part of the Army coaching staff.

In addition, current Jets assistant captain Tom Dickhudt, will join Bentley next season, which is also in Atlantic Hockey.

As of now, there will be ten Jets playing on Division I hockey teams with Josh Schaeffer (Air Force) and Shane Holman (Bemidji State) rounding out the group.

Malark finished the North American Hockey League regular season with 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists), which was fifth best on the team. In the Jets first round playoff sweep of the Minnesota Blizzard, Malark had a goal.

Since joining Fargo-Moorhead in February 2003, Malark has 59 points (22 goals, 27 assists).

Malark and the Jets will face the Billings Bulls in the North American Hockey League West Division finals beginning next week. Games one and two will be at the John E. Carlson Coliseum on April 14 and 15 at 7:05pm both nights.

Playoff tickets are $11 for reserved seats, $9 for adult general admission and $6 for children/seniors/military.

The FM Jets are in their second season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 29th year of operation.

Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcast at STAR 103.9 and fmjets.com.
