Major League Soccer and Liga MX Announce Groups for Leagues Cup 2024

SEATTLE, WASH. - Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX announced the format and groups for Leagues Cup 2024, with Sounders FC placed in the West 6 group alongside Minnesota United FC and Club Necaxa of Liga MX. Taking place from July 26 - August 25, Leagues Cup 2024 crowns a winner among MLS and Liga MX clubs, in addition to deciding three qualifiers for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup. Dates and times for Group Stage matches, as well as further scheduling details on Leagues Cup 2024, will be announced at a later date.

Every team plays two matches in the Group Stage, with the top two teams from each group, as determined by points, advancing to the Knockout Stage Round of 32. No matches in the Leagues Cup Group Stage will end in a tie. If a game is tied after 90 minutes, the game proceeds to a penalty shootout. After a second-place finish in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2021, the Rave Green were eliminated in the Group Stage in 2023. The Group Stage at Leagues Cup 2024 will not be Sounders FC's first meeting Club Necaxa, as the club hosted the Liga MX side in an international friendly back in 2017.

Fans in over 100 countries and regions are able to watch all 77 Leagues Cup matches on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app, the subscription service from Apple and Major League Soccer that is available on smart TVs, streaming devices, Apple devices, set-top boxes, game consoles and the web at tv.apple.com. In addition, TelevisaUnivision, TV Azteca, FOX Sports (FS1), TSN and RDS are the linear broadcast homes for selected group stage matches in Mexico, United States and Canada.

Sounders FC continues its 2024 preseason preparations from training camp in Marbella, Spain. Seattle begins its 2024 Major League soccer campaign against LAFC on Saturday, February 24 at BMO Stadium (1:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, FOX, iHeartMedia Seattle, El Rey 1360 AM). The Rave Green's home opener on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field then follows on Saturday, March 2 against Austin FC (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, iHeartMedia Seattle, El Rey 1360 AM).
