MAINEiacs Win Preseason Opener, 5-2

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - August 21, 2010 - The Lewiston MAINEiacs got the preseason portion of their schedule started on Saturday afternoon, as they played host to the Victoriaville Tigres. The 873 in attendance got treated to a come-from-behind victory by the home squad, as Lewiston erased a 2-1 deficit, scoring four goals in the third period for a 5-2 win.

Francis Beauvillier started the preseason scoring early in the first period, slamming home a centering pass from Matthew Bissonnette. Victoriaville's Chris Doyle tied the game shortly after, ending the first period with a 1-1 deadlock.

The Tigres netted the only goal of the middle frame, but in the third, Lewiston's offense came to life. At the 7:24 mark, Samuel Henley wristed home a shot from the slot, tying the score at two. 1:31 later, Matthew Bissonnette put the MAINEiacs on top, finishing a cross-crease pass from Stefan Fournier. Then, with under five minutes left to play, Marc-Antoine Rousseau joined in the scoring, banging in the rebound of Etienne Brodeur's initial attempt. Samuel Carrier capped off the win with an empty net tally.

Andrey Makarov earned the win in goal, stopping all 17 shots he faced. Jordan Kennedy started, and made 12 saves on 14 shots.

Stefan Fournier, Etienne Brodeur, and Matthew Bissonnette all had multi-point nights.

The MAINEiacs and Tigres will finish their home-and-home series on Sunday afternoon at 4:00, with the game taking place at the Levis Municipal Arena in Levis, QC. Meanwhile, at 7:00, the Androscoggin Bank Colisee will be hosting a 3-on-3 challenge for the players not traveling.
