MAINEiacs Make Postseason!

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release


Lewiston, ME -The MAINEiacs emptied the tank against the Chicoutimi Saguneens, but it wasn't quite enough for a W. The Lewiston MAINEiacs fell 3-2 to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in a shootout at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Sunday afternoon. However the shootout loss was enough to propel the MAINEiacs to their 6th consecutive postseason. The Val-d'Or Foreurs lost to the Montreal Junior 12-1 to give Lewiston the final playoff spot.

Chicoutimi scored two power play goals in the first period to lead the game 2-0. In the third Sam Finn put one in for the hungry home crowd to bring the MAINEiacs within one. In the final seconds of the third with goaltender Peter Delmas pulled, Lewiston's Billy Lacasse jabbed one in wlith 8 seconds to go in the period to even the score at 2.

Overtime came and went with no score. In the shootout, Chicoutimi's Jacob Lagace netted the only goal giving the Sags the win.

Peter Delmas got the loss for the MAINEiacs after facing 29 shots from Chicoutimi. Chicoutimi's 6'07" goaltender John Nauta earned the win for the visitors. The three stars of the game were 1) Peter Delmas (LEW), 2) Billy Lacasse (LEW), 3) Sam Finn (LEW).

Tickets for round 1 of the playoffs against the QMJHL regular season champion Drummondville Voltigeurs will go on sale at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee box office on Wednesday, March 18 at 9:00 AM. Dates will be announced on the MAINEiacs website tomorrow.
