This Weekend in the Telus East Division

The Quebec Remparts scored four goals in the third period on Thursday night, as they defeated the Rimouski Oceanic 5-2. That was the first of three games in four days for Quebec this weekend, as the Remparts have two more divisional contests on the docket. Quebec will host Chicoutimi on Friday night, before a rematch in Rimouski on Sunday.

The Rimouski Oceanic will have to wait until the aforementioned game on Sunday to try to get back on the winning side of things, as they have Friday and Saturday off.

With Rimouski only playing once, the Victoriaville Tigres will control their own destiny this weekend, as two wins will give them sole possession of third place, no matter what. Victoriaville will start the weekend with a road tilt with rival Drummondville on Friday, before returning home to face PEI on Saturday. The Voltigeurs have taken both head-to-head meetings with the Tigres this season, allowing just one goal in the process.

Following Wednesday's loss in Lewiston, the Chicoutimi Sagueneens will take the ice once this weekend. That game takes place on Friday night, when they visit the Quebec Remparts.

The Baie-Comeau Drakkar will have three games in three days this weekend, as they to try to put their lengthy losing streak to bed. Streaks will collide on Friday night, as Baie-Comeau (winless in 25 straight) visits Rouyn-Noranda (winless in 16 straight). After that, the Drakkar will head to Val-d'Or to face the Foreurs, who have lost eight of their last ten games.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL

The top two teams in the Telus West Division will meet up on Sunday afternoon, when the Montreal Junior visit the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Montreal has won two of the three previous tilts between the two clubs, and will look to extend their lead atop the division to four points, while having three games in hand.

The Shawinigan Cataractes have been one of the hottest teams in the QMJHL as of late, having won nine of their last 11 games. Shawinigan will play three games in three days this weekend, starting with a home game against Montreal on Friday night. The Cataractes will then head to Gatineau for a third place battle on Saturday, before returning home to take on Moncton on Sunday. The Olympiques have also been playing well, going 7-1-1-1 in their last ten games.

The Saint John Sea Dogs are currently tied with Lewiston for second place in the league, and will have a pair of home games this weekend. Saint John tangles with Acadie-Bathurst on Friday night, before Halifax visits Harbour Station on Sunday.

Three other games are on the slate this weekend, with Cape Breton hosting Acadie-Bathurst and Halifax, while PEI will visit Gatineau.
