North Iowa Outlaws News Release

Watching and supporting the NAHL's top goaltender, Austin Maginnis was champing at the bit to get his chance, which came tonight. No one would have known Moss had the night off as Maginnis play great, and got offense in front for a 5-0 win. Bismarck throw a lot of shots at the Mason City native, who turned aside everything in sight for his first career shutout and second win of the season.

North Iowa got on the board in the opening period, taking advantage of the man advantage as Bryant Skarda tallied his 9th power play goal taking a pass on the side of the Bobcats net for the easy goal. Walter made the play happen after Joe Harcharik dug the puck free from the corner. From the point Walters faked the shot, fooled everyone, leaving Skarda all at the side of the net for the goal.

The Outlaws power play extended the lead to 2-0 as Walters set up a second strike, this time from Trevor Doden who let the one-timer fly past Jake Kramer for a 2-0 lead. Alex Carlson added to the lead, proving good things happen if you shoot the puck. A shot at Kramer went off his stick and over his head, hit the post, rolled back and hit the Bismarck goaltender and finally crossed the goal line for the score, giving North Iowa a 3-0 lead after two periods.

In the third, North Iowa played strong and added to their lead. Max Mobley picked up a power play goal and Bobby Moe added an empty net shorthanded tally to make the final 5-0. Behind the scoring was Maginnis who picked up his first career shutout in only his third appearance of the season, and his first in over two months. Next weekend the Outlaws travel to St. Louis for a match-up against the first place St. Louis Bandits to end the first half of the season.
